PBIto manage program at La Samanna Resort & Spa, in St. Martin, French West IndiesPeter Burwash International is pleased to announce that they are now managing the tennis operations for La Samanna Resort & Spa, by Orient-Express, the renowned luxury resort on St. Martin, French West Indies. This is PBI’s first management agreement with Orient-Express. In conjunction with this new partnership, La Samanna has renovated its three-court tennis center with the resurfacing of two artificial grass courts and enhanced the ambience with upgraded fencing, tropical landscaping and a shaded viewing and seating area. A new pro shop will round out the improvements. Overlooking Baie Longue, a crescent-shaped, pristine white sand beach, La Samanna is St. Martin’s most luxurious resort and is regularly named among the top hotels in the world and best in the Caribbean. Dave was recognized as a USPTA certified tennis professional who has demonstrated a high level of involvement with the profession and growth of tennis, and who has made significant contributions to USTA Georgia. He has been leading the program at Reynolds Plantation since 2004. USTA Honors Peter Burwash with 2009 Faculty Emeritus Award
The USTA recently presented Peter Burwash with the 2009 Faculty Emeritus award at their annual Tennis Teachers Conference, held in New York City concurrently with this year’s U.S. Open.
The USTA Tennis Teachers Conference Faculty Emeritus award recognizes those who have made significant contributions as a speaker and presenter over a number of years. Recipients of this award have generously shared their valuable information as part of the Tennis Teachers Conference faculty and demonstrated great leadership and creativity in teaching and coaching tennis.

Peter Burwash first spoke at the USTA Tennis Teachers Conference in 1975 and has been a headline speaker on eight different occasions. This year his keynote message was “The Growth of the Game,” highlighting the tennis history and what tennis professionals can do to keep tennis on the current high-growth curve that it is now riding.
Burwash established Peter Burwash International in 1975, which currently runs fulltime tennis programs at 50+ hotels around the world, employing nearly 100 tennis professionals from 23 countries. His teaching concepts are widely accepted and used at the professional level, as well as taught at PBI locations around the world. Peter Burwash International(PBI) is pleased to announce one its properties, The Lake Club Tennis Center at Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Georgia has been named as the winner of the 28th Annual United States Tennis Association(USTA) Outstanding Facility Award for 2009.
Under the direction of PBI veteran professionals Dave Neuhart as Tennis Director and Ron Estrada as Head Professional, the facility consists of two stadium-sized and six championship-sized lighted courts. The eight courts include four Har-Tru Hydro clay courts and four hard courts. In addition to a wide ranging instructional program there is a full-service pro shop, computerized ball machine and the highly regarded Dartfish system which provides computer-aided video analysis.
“To win this award it takes commitment and hard work at every level of the operation,” explained Neuhart, who has been with PBI for 29-years. “So I am happy to share in this honor with the ma nagement of Reynolds Plantation, its employees, our shop staff and members.”
Reynolds Plantation was also recognized as the Site of the Year for Peter Burwash International in 2006.
