Historic Resort is located in Pine Mountain, Georgia
Magnolia, Texas - June 28, 2018 - Peter Burwash International (PBI) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Callaway Resort & Gardens, a 2,500-acre resort complex located in Pine Mountain, Georgia. The entire property has two golf courses, a Spa, nine restaurants, water sports, fishing, hiking and biking trails, a butterfly center, birds of prey shows, zip lining, and a large conference center. The tennis facility consists of eight clay courts and two hard courts and a full-service Pro Shop. The destination draws nearly one million visitors annually.
Callaway Gardens was originally conceived in 1930 after Cason J. Callaway discovered a rare azalea growing in the area. It opened to the public on May 21, 1952, as the Ida Cason Gardens, with a number of lakes, a golf course, and scenic drives. The gardens have experienced numerous expansions over the years and is designated a National Natural Landmark.
"We are delighted to partner with Peter Burwash International for their expertise in directing tennis programs in a first-class, expert manner. Their professionals are highly polished, well-trained and enthusiastic,” said Director of Recreation, Catrina Vargas. “PBI’s service is award winning and I know they will put the tennis center at Callaway Resort and Gardens ‘on the map'.
To get the program underway, PBI has appointed veteran professional Jack DeAndrade, as its first tennis director. DeAndrade will draw upon his extensive experience garnered at some of PBI’s most iconic tennis locations including, most recently, the award- winning Cliffs Communities in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. An accomplished and popular coach, DeAndrade has coached at Wimbledon, the French Open and US Open and previous PBI assignments include the Prince Hotel in Maui and over ten years in Tokyo at some of the country’s most prestigious tennis clubs. Integrating hotel guests with local players, DeAndrade and PBI are developing a complete menu of tennis activities for groups, families and individual guests of all ages and playing abilities.
“Callaway Gardens is an historic resort in beautiful surroundings,” noted PBI President Rene Zondag. “We are excited about this partnership and look forward to creating a one- of-a-kind tennis experience.”
