Maria (Masha), originally from Rhodes, Greece, was nationally top ranked and pursued a professional career. At the age of 15, she left her home country and lived for 3.5 years in Amsterdam, where she trained with top coaches at one of Holland’s best tennis academies, and at the same time travelled all around Europe to play ITF Juniors and several WTA tournaments. Due to her tennis performance, she acquired a full tennis scholarship at Syracuse University in New York, a Division 1 school. As a team leader she gained valuable leadership skills and team building experience. Masha’s tennis coaching experience began three years ago, where she started teaching at Mitsis Alila Resort Faliraki in Rhodes, Greece, a 5-star all-inclusive resort. Masha feels so fortunate and blessed to work as a tennis coach because tennis has always been her biggest passion, and from playing professionally to teaching she feels like she has everything it takes to pass on the knowledge to anyone that loves this sport as much as she does. Her goal is to help each student grow in their skills and she believes PBI’s training and concepts make her well-equipped to succeed.
She worked as a tennis director and coach for 3 consecutive summers at Mitsis All Resort Faliraki in Rhodes, Greece. She developed the ability to effectively communicate with guests of all ages, the management team and other staff of the resort. Most importantly though, she aimed to promote the tennis program, and actively increased the participation.
She also worked at a very prestigious tennis club, North Point Tennis Club, in the capital of Greece, Athens, where she facilitated tennis practices to help everyone, child or adult, grow in their skills.
Lastly, Masha worked at the American Community Schools of Athens (ACS) as a full-time tennis coach, where she assisted the Head Coach with daily tasks and program planning, worked to promote a competitive, safe, positive, and student-centered practice environment and accompanied some of the athletes at multiple national tennis tournaments.
